Personal Reflection. Mstones 12.3.06

Yes, that was what first made my little head swivel Johnny's way.
He had a great smile.
What can i say, have always been sap for a guy with a great smile.
Well, John Miles, Jr. taught Mstones on Sunday.
He started with Philippians 2:3 "Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself."
Humility.
i was sooo humble.
I had promised John that i would not interrupt while he was teaching class. Guess this verse really applied to me during that hour. And honestly, it was difficult at first -- but then i kind of zoned out so it really wasn't so hard.
i had to confess my SSchool space out to our most able teacher.
We were feeling rather large and john felt i was in need of lots of Bible U review, so we took off on extended jog.
So for 2 hours during our run around Mad, he regailed me with all that he said and all that you said. i don't know how 45 minutes of class turned into a 2 hour tutorial, but it did.
Then we came back and were very, very tired. So we napped in the sun.

i think joe joined us.
Ok -- here is what i gleaned from him.
Topic for next few weeks: Goal Setting.
Week One: Priorities. Philippians 2:1 -- 16
1. What is the purpose of your life?
a. For the Christian, God works in you to work out His purpose. v. 13
2. What is God's purpose for your life?
a. Have the attitude of Jesus. v.5
3. How can we have the attitude of Jesus?
a. Meditate on what He did. v. 6
b. Meditate on the result of what He did. v. 9 -- 11
4. What are the results of right priorities?
a. attitude -- comfort, fellowship, tenderness, compassion, unity. v. 1-2.
b. action -- service v. 3 and 14.
There it is. Johnny's notes. Oh dear, there is a slight problem.
See, i was telling a fib. He did not talk with me for hours about class. i just copied his notes.

And honestly, most of how i started note was fib, except that we ran on Sunday and i am sap for john's great smile.
Biggest fib was re Humility.
I thought i was most humble gal. Well, not exactly true either. But compared with raging example and defintion in verse 3. i fall quite short.
So think first step in this Goal Setting for 2007 is honest self evaluation.
Just looking at ourselves in the mirror.

Here i am as john walks through the door to spotless house,
3 spotless, silently adoring children,
and yummy dinner on spotless table.

ok -- i'll be honest. That's not me and that doesn't happen. ever.
But, here i was this morning in personal reflection while i getting ready for morning carpool.
Guess not really true either.
ok -- here's how i really am.

and if this is really what i feel like during personal reflection, how the heck am i going to figure out how to move forward?
Hopefully, we all have reached point in our lives where we realize we need God.
But question to you and to myself this week is: Do we realize that God needs us?
And He needs us not how we think we should be or
how we would like to be, but He needs us
how we were created to be.
So Who am I? Oh dear, now that is quite the poser.
Next week: Looking at our History? Where have we come from?
